桂花香，飘十里。伴随着金秋的色彩，我校也迎来了一年一度的运动会。

在这次运动会上，有一个场景让我深受感动。一个刚跑完200米的小女孩，又要面对800米跑道。她深深的吸了一口气，面无惧色，又一次迈开双腿奔向终点。一开始，它还夹在几个精兵强将中间，但毕竟刚跑完200米，两圈后，她已经落后了。到了第四圈，她真是累垮了，面色惨白，双腿艰难的挪动着，一步，两步，三步……她仍然坚持着。突然，掌声音乐一起响起来，全校师生都在为她加油。冲吧，冲向那胜利的终点，冲向那追求的地方。虽然你是最后，但你的精神却为你赢得了胜利。

Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

尊敬的老师、亲爱的同学：
学习不是一朝一夕的事情，需要平时积累，需要平时的功夫，学期初讲这个问题很有必要。为此我先讲一个故事：古希腊大哲学家苏格拉底在开学第一天对他的学生们说："信天你们只学一件最简单也是最容易的事儿。每人把胳膊尽量往前甩，然后再尽量往后甩。"说着，苏格拉底示范做了一遍，"从今天开始，每天做300下，大家能做到吗？"
学生们都笑了，这么简单的事，有什么做不到的。
过了一个月，苏格拉底问学生：每天甩手300下，哪个同学坚持了，有90%的学生骄傲的举起了手，又过了一个月，苏格拉底又问，这回，坚持下来的学生只剩下了8成。
一年过后，苏格拉底，再一次问大家："请告诉我，最简单的甩手运动。还有哪几个同学坚持了，"这时，整个教室里，只有一个人举起了手，这个学生就是后来成为古希腊另一位大哲学家的柏拉图。
同学们，柏拉图之所以能成为大哲学家，其中一个重要原因，就是，柏拉图有一种持之以恒的优秀品质。
要想成就一翻事业，必须有持之以恒的精神，大家都熟悉愚公移山的故事，愚公之所以能够感动天帝，移走太行，王屋二山。正是因为他具有锲而不舍的精神。
晋代王献之，练字之初，立下誓言，："不写完一缸水，誓不罢休。"后来终于成为一代了不起的大书法，他同样具有之以恒的精神。
孙中山先生，戎马一生，有的同学看了电视剧，他前十次革命均告失败，但他百折不挠，终于在第十一次革命的时候，推翻了清王朝的统治，建立了中华民国，这些故事，情节不同，但意义都是一样的，它告诉无们，做事要有恒心。
旬子讲："锲而舍之，朽木不折；锲而有舍，金石可镂。"这句话充分说明了一个人如果有恒心，一些困难的事情便可以做到；没有恒心，再简单的事也做不成。
学习就需要恒心，需要持之以恒，古代讲"头悬梁，锥刺骨"，这种学习精神是很可佩。
"头悬梁"讲的是汉朝人孙敬的`故事，孙敬读书很用功，到了十分疲倦的时候，还不休息，但又无法赶走瞌睡，头一垂下，就会扯痛头发，立刻惊醒，继续再读。
"锥刺股"讲的是战国时代的谋士苏秦，他年青时也是拼命读书，为了避免晚上打瞌睡，他手拿一把锥子，一打瞌睡，就刺自己大腿一下，刺痛了，人也就醒了。
孙敬和苏秦的勤奋精神固然可佩，但做法不值得仿效。因为这样做必估会导致过疲劳，有碍身体健康。同时，也很难持之以恒。
学习是一条慢长而艰苦的道路，不能靠一时激情，也不是熬几天几夜就能学好的，必须养成平时努力学习的习惯，学期初，同学们要把平时利用好，把学习工作搞好。毛泽东同志对学习也提写了这样的一副对联，大概如下：
上联是：贵有恒，何必三更睡五更起。
下联是：最无益，就怕一日曝十日寒。
愿同学们以此联为勉。
